The Effects of Holding Grievances

I’m a member of a Telegram chat group that usually has a very positive, loving and contributing exchange of dialogue.  Recently several members have been engaged in – or shall I say locked into – an exchange.  I missed the beginning, yet gather one (Member 1) felt the other (Member 2) was “abusive” in a comment.  Member 2 wrote that he tried to take the misunderstanding to a private DM (direct message). Member 1 continued messaging within the group. Other ...

What is your Purpose?

What do you think your purpose is? And, what if your purpose wasn’t a job function? Would that change the way you look at life?

From the time I was in Grade 10 of High School and for many years, I wondered what my purpose was and why I was on this planet. At that time, my family had just returned from living 2 years in Nairobi, Kenya.

It had been a happy time.  I had loved our school, had ...

Your thoughts and behaviour make a difference

I found this writing by Inessa Burdich to be beautiful and wanted to share it:

“I have come to the conclusion that I am the crucial element. It is my personal attitude that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that determines the weather. I possess enormous power to make life miserable or joyful. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration, I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations it is my ...

Gratitude

It’s the beginning of October, and I have been noticing the way the light is starting to be less bright during the day, the sun is rising a little later and setting a little earlier each day here in the northern hemisphere. It’s a time when nature is announcing Fall, regardless of what the actual weather is doing.

When I was growing up in Saskatchewan, Canada (which is north of Montana and North Dakota for my US friends), the Fall season was ...

Being Authentic

– Being the True You –

Your mid-September update –

I trust you had a good summer – for many it was a welcome reprieve from circumstances we’ve all be in over the past 15 months.

I was planning on sending this at the beginning of September, yet I could feel changes were in the “air”. I woke up in the middle of the night on August 31 and was awake for several hours – it felt like a “heads up”. Something big ...

Purpose

“Youth is not measured in age; it’s measured in functionality.”

I recently heard the above quote (which I believe was made by Michael B. Beckwith, though I’m not certain of that). It resonated deeply. My mother sounded young for most of her life and seemed to love adventure of one sort or another, whereas my dad always seemed old…

Years ago, a very wise man I know suggested that I forget about birthdays. Now that might be a radical thought to some. Yet I continue to ...

Stress, Anxiety & Fear

Welcome to June!

I love all seasons of the year, yet if I were to choose one month as my favourite, it would be June. I came into the world in this month and love the light, the birdsong, the promise of being outdoors more, the fact that it starts in Spring and completes in Summer, and much more….

What do you love about this month?

Its always a breath of fresh air to focus on what you love about something, rather than what’s ...

Dealing with Resistance

Happy April!

I love this time of the year, here in the Northern Hemisphere. The birds are singing, the buds are coming out as are some of the early flowers. Where I grew up in Saskatchewan, crocuses are purple and very low to the ground. Here in Ontario, they are multi colored. When I originally saw them, I thought they were some kind of a tulip! Nature has many ways to show her beauty, and in the Spring, we see new growth pushing up from ...

Taking Command in your Life

AKA: Setting your internal weather system

March 2021

As I sat down to write this blog, I was noticing the way the light is starting to be brighter, and the sun is coming up earlier and setting a little later each day here in the northern hemisphere.  It’s a time when nature is announcing Spring, regardless of what the actual weather is doing.

Many of us are less connected with the natural rhythms of nature than we were even a few years ago ...

Setting Intentions

Setting Intentions aka your 5 step process to experience more heart, and greater joy, happiness and love in your life for February and beyond!

I heard something awhile ago that caught my attention.  It was this (and I’m highly paraphrasing):  we lose our ability to focus on where we’re going when we say that all the pain, suffering and negativity that we see or experience is ‘good’, or is helping us ‘grow’.  Awakening and personal growth doesn’t require pain.  We ...
